Doris Westergaard, 87, of Wausau, died Saturday, December 15, 2001, at Marywood Convalescent Center.

Doris was born September 21, 1914, in Oconto to the late William and Louise (Mibauer) Telford. She married Carl Westergaard on March 28, 1936, in Oconto. Doris was a former member of The Eastern Star, The White Shrine of Jerusalem, the American Legion Auxiliary, and for many years she was active in Birch Trails Girl Scout Council, Commission on Aging Talent Shop and Embroiderers Guild of America.

She is preceded in death by husband, Carl Westergaard, in May of 1984; and her brother, Robert Telford of Oconto.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Westergaard of Wausau; a sister, Jean Hermsen of Waukesha; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne Telford of Oconto; many nieces and nephews; many dear friends and "Adopted Family" of Betty Boorman and children, Liz Benson, Chuck Boorman, Barb Williams, Rod Boorman and Ann Gasperich.

Memorial service will be Tuesday, December 18, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers will officiate. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, c/o Wisconsin Valley Shrine Auxiliary, P.O. Box 302, Wausau WI 54402-0302.
