Oconto Falls-
1947

Dougal McDougal, 73, died Sunday noon of a cerebral hemorrhage, apparently the result of having been struck by a car while walking on Main Street in Gillett Saturday night.

Gene Berken, Oconto county traffic officer, said that the car was driven by Norman Truebenback, Gillett. Truebenback swung out to avoid hitting McDougal but he fell against the door of the car. Truebenback stopped, found McDougal unconscious and called a physician.

McDougal soon revived and seemed to be unhurt except for a superficial bruise, and went to the home of a sister, Mrs. A.C. Arveson, in the town of Maple Valley. Sunday morning he became ill, however, and a doctor was called. The body was taken to the Soulek Funeral home in Suring, and was to be taken to the Arveson residence this afternoon. Rites will be conducted there Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. A. Laque, and burial will be in Evergreen cemetery, Oconto. The body may be viewed tonight.

McDougal, who was unmarried, is survived by the sister, Mrs. Arveson, and a brother, B.P. McDougal, Oconto Falls. He had been living with the sister recently. He was born February 24, 1874 in the town of Oconto Falls, a son of the late James McDouglas. He operated a farm until 1914, when he moved to Oconto Falls and worked for the water and light commission until 1928.
