Dottie was born on April 4, 1919, in Hartfbrd. She was the daughter of the late Richard J. and Florence (Carlton) Lintner. On Aug. 12, 1943 in Peoria, IL Dottie was united in marriage to David Funderburg. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1999. Dottie and her husband moved to Oconto Falls in 1947. Dottie attended and graduated from UW LaCrosse with a B.S. degree major in Physical Education and a minor in Biology. Dottie was employed at the Gillett High School as the Physical Education Teacher for the 1964-1965 school year. The next year, she began her tenure with the Oconto Falls School District as the Physical Education Teacher, a career which ran 16 years, from 1966 until ill health forced her retirement in 1982. During her years of teaching, Dottie also was active with other activities with the school. Dottie was a charter member of the River Island Golf Course in Oconto Falls and will be remembered for giving the course its name. She was also a member of the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church.
Dottie will be missed by three sons, William David (Marie) Funderburg of Gillett, John Carlton Funderburg of Green Bay and David (Annie) Funderburg of Oconto Falls; five grandchildren, Richard Funderburg and Connie Hansen, Leah Funderburg and Nathan and Jennifer Funderburg. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David "Doe" FLnderburg; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation was held at the Jones Funeral Service on Monday April 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Tuesday, April 6, after a.m. at the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church until the time of services. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6 at the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church, the Rev. Good Arpke-Lone officiated. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
