He was born Feb. 25, 1932, in Milwaukee, to the late Alonzo and Dorothy (Fosdick) Stemper.
Daniel graduated from Waukesha High School in 1949. From 1951 to 1954, he served in the United States Air Force. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1959 from Marquette University. Daniel married Norma Rebholz in Mukwonago, Wis. on May 9, 1952. He was Vice President of Marketing at Holt Instrument Laboratories, Oconto, where he worked from 1959 to 1972. From 1972 to 1987, he worked at Cruisers, Inc. where he retired as the Vice President of Engineering. He was a 40 year member of the American Legion Post, #74 in Oconto as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Oconto Board of Education, Police and Fire Commission, and Utility Commission. Daniel received the Distinguished Service Award for his civic contributions. For years he was active in the Boy Scouts of America organizing Troop #65 of Oconto, and had four troop members attain Eagle Scout. He was also very active in Youth Baseball in Oconto, having organized the M & O Babe Ruth Baseball League, and organized and coached the Junior American Legion Team. Daniel was a member of St. Joseph Parish of Oconto and of Annunciation Parish, Green Bay, where he enjoyed singing in the church choirs.
Survivors include his wife, Norina; seven children and their spouses, Scott and Jan Stemper, Cooper City, Fla.; Marty Stemper, Green Bay; Chris Stemper, West Allis; Perry and Louise Stemper, Peshtigo; Julie and John Reed, Oconto; Randy and Shelly Stemper, Green Bay; Patricia and Tom Hoffman, Oconto.
He will be very much missed by his 11 grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters and their spouses, Joyce and Denny Weber, St. Germain; Judy and Gail Warner, Fort Collins, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Gerald Stemper.
Friends called at Annunciation Catholic Church, 401 Gray Street, Green Bay, from 9 until 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Joseph Coopmans O. Praem, officiating. Burial was in Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the immediate family requests memorials in the form of Masses scheduled at both Holy Trinity Church, Oconto, and Annunciation Catholic Church, Green Bay. Blaney Funeral Home assisted the Stemper Family.
