David H. Cross

David H. Cross, 65, of Oconto, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at his home with his wife, Sue, by his side. David was born May 11, 1948 in Waukesha to Ken and Ruth (Raduachel) Cross. He married Susan Williams on December 13, 1976. David served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from June of 1966 to June of 1970 as Crew Chief, Medivac Unit. Serving during the Viet Nam War, David was awarded 3 Purple Hearts, Silver Star, Air Medal with 24 OLC, Navy Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Air Crew Insignia with 3, President Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and V. V. Cross of Galanty. David worked as DNR Warden for Oconto County for 8 years and then retired from the Oconto, US Post Office. He was a member and Deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, member and Past Commander of American Legion Post #74, Oconto, and member of Oconto County Historical Society.

David is survived by his wife, Sue Cross, Oconto; mother, Ruth Cross, Oconto; sister, Barbara Weber, Waukesha; brother, Bruce Cross, Waukesha; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ken Cross; sister, Diana Fleischman and brother Scott Cross.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the First Presbyterian Church, Oconto, from 11 AM to 2 PM Thursday, March 20, 2014. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Thursday at the church with the Rev. Craig Alwin officiating. Military Rites by American Legion Post #74, Oconto. Online condolences may be expressed at www.gallagherfuneralhome.net.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given.
