Joanne Marie Derry
Joanne Marie (Follett) Derry 58, Oconto passed away Sunday May 13, 2012. She was born on June 18, 1953 in Oconto, WI to the late Wesley E. and Patricia Lee Follett Sr. She graduated from Oconto High School and enjoyed her own business as an owner operator of her Truck. She served in the United States Army as a Sergeant E5 from 1982-1986 at Fort Rucker Alabama. She operated heavy equipment and was requested many times to work at helicopter crash sites. She received many accommodations and metals. While serving in the Military she met her husband David and they married on January 11, 1986. In 1991 they moved to Oconto where Joanne was employed by Head Start as a bus driver for a few years. At the time of her illness she was employed at LeTourneau Plastic where she had many friends. Joanne took great comfort in her faith and her Church, First American Lutheran, Oconto where she was a member and raised her family. She had a young passion for duck hunting, pickerel spearing with her husband and brother, she was also a seasoned ATV rider, loved gardening, canning, scrap booking, and sewing. Her life was full of Love and Joy and she spread happiness to all that she touched. She leaves behind and will be sorrowfully missed by her husband Dave, two Daughters Leah Bayer and Amanda Derry. Three granddaughters Unity Bayer, and Skyliegh Ackerman, and Adilyn Lubus. Joanne’s granddaughters were the sparkle in her eye and the spring in her step. She is further survived by a brother Wesley Follett Jr. (Debbie Mineau); and a sister Nancy (Paul) Gerondale; many nieces nephews other relatives and friends. Friends may call at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Oconto from 4-8 PM Wednesday. Visitation will continue Thursday at First American Lutheran Church, Oconto from 10 AM until time of the Funeral. Funeral Service 11 AM Thursday May 17, 2012 at the Church with Rev. Mary Zupansic officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Oconto American Legion Jones-Modrow-Young Post #74.
