Donald Edward Bruns, 79, of Townsend, WI, formerly of Kenosha, died at his home on March 24, 2000 with his family at his side.

He was born in Kenosha on February 4, 1921 to John and Beatrice (DeHaven) Bruns. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army in which he served during WWII he married Dorothy Schroeder on August 11, 1945 at St. George Church in Kenosha. He worked for Ladish Tri-Clover until his retirement in 1982 at which time he moved to Townsend, WI. While living in Kenosha he was a member of the Eagles Club, a life member of the VFW and the Cooties and a member of St. George Church.

After moving to Townsend he joined VFW ost 10914 of Lakewood, AARP and St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood. In his retirement he enjoyed bowling, hunting and fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his widow, Dorothy; three daughters, Sheryl (Frank) Dennis, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Darlene (Marty) Swed, Townsend, WI, Tina (Russell) Borst, Kenosha, WI; one son, Gerald Bruns, Kenosha; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Chester Bruns; four sisters, Beatrice Mattson, Anise Walters, Elizabeth Peterson, and Florence Colby.

Visitation was on Sunday, March 26 at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, Lakewood. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday 11 a.m. at the Church, with Fr. Gerald Schmidt officiating. Visitation was also held on Tuesday at the Piasecki Funeral Home, Kenosha. Graveside service was on Wednesday at St. George Cemetery, Kenosha. The Suminski Funeral Home, Wabeno and the Piasecki Funeral Home, Kenosha served the family. Memorials appreciated to the LeRoyer Hospice, 112 E. 5th Ave., Antigo, WI 54409.
