Sgt David D Pecor, 21, formerly of Oconto and a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Pecor, Garden Grove, Calif. was killed in action in Korea, relatives here learned Monday.

Word of his death was contained in a telegram from his parents to his grandmother, Mrs. Macey Pecor, 1023 McDonald St. Details of his death were not made known.

Sgt. Pecor was born in Oconto in 1929 and attended Jefferson school until moving to California with his family about seven years ago. He completed his education there, and two years ago, joined the army. He was sent to Korea shortly after the United Nations entered the conflict there.

Besides his parents and grandmother, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Robert (Margaret Ruth) Herald of Garden Grove; three brothers, LeRoy in Alaska, Malcolm and James of Garden Grove.

Only one week ago the Reporter carried a story of Sgt. Pecor's decoration for bravery in action. He was awarded a Silver Star, after he had rescued his injured platoon leader during a barrage near Yongdong in Korea. He also was recommended for the Bronze Star for blowing up a bridge behind the North Korean lines, slowing the enemies retreat.
