THE SILENT REAPER

Mrs. DELPHINE COX, wife of R. A. Cox, government miller at Keshena, died at that village on Friday morning of last week, after a very brief illness. The announcement of her death was a great shock to her many friends and acquaintances, as it had been reported only a few days previous that she had passed the critical point in her illness and was recovering. She was attacked by a severe cold about 3 weeks ago, which developed into pneumonia, and this in connection with heart trouble was the cause of death.

Mrs. Cox was born in Schuyler County, N. Y., in 1846, and came to Wisconsin with her parents when but 10 years of age, the family locating in Oshkosh. In 1862 she was married to Richard A. Cox and in 1866 came with her husband to Shawano county, which has since been the family home.

Besides the husband, 4 sons and 4 daughters survive her as follows; Mrs. C. E. McKenzie, of Gillett; Mrs. Enos Gale, of Gillett; daughters Inez and Bessie, and sons Bert, Jesse, Guy and Ward. Other surviving relatives are Mrs. A. K. Porter of this city, and Mrs. P. Morrison, of Stratford, Marathon Co., sisters. The deceased was held in high esteem by all who knew her, and the sympathy of all is with the sorrowing family in their affliction.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. from the Presbyterian church and were largely attended. The pallbearers were Thos. Savage, H.W. Gilkey, P.E. Doyle and E. J. Parks of Keshena.
