Charles W. Ziereis, 53, Hwy G, Gillett Died June 1, 1993 at home following a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 23, 1939 in Clintonville to Leo and Owma (Kautz) Ziereis. Charles married Sharon Langfeldt May 20, 1961 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville.
Following his marriage, Charles was employed by Urban Telephone in Clintonville until 1969. He then moved to Wausau and worked for General Telephone until 1976, and then transferred to Eagle River until 1981.
From 1981 to 1986, Charles was employed by General Telephone in Portage. He was then transferred to Two Rivers- Denmark and worked there until retiring in November of 1991.
Following retirement, Charles moved to Gillett and loved his life. He was presently a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, Suring, and had belonged to the Knights of Columbus for the past 31 years. Currently, Charles was president of the Suring Lions Club and had served as a Lion since 1979 in various other Lions Clubs.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon, Gillett; parents Leo and Owma Ziereis, Anderson Lake; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kathy Ziereis, Cleveland, Wis; one daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and Terry Schuettpelz, Suring; three grandchildren, Dana, Brandon and Danielle.
The family will receive friends at St. Michael Catholic Church, Suring from 10:30 am Saturday until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial at 11a.m. Saturday at the church with Father Frank Melchior officiating.
A memorial has been established.
