Carl W. Whiting, 74, died in St. Mary's medical center on Sunday October 1, 2000.

He was born in Manitowoc on June 28, 1926, to the late Everett William and Gladys Mae (nee Brown) Whiting. On February 5, 1948, he was united in marriage with the former Mary Kathrine Feranchek. She preceded him in death on September 13, 1995.

Mr. Whiting served his nation with the United States Army as a Tank Operator during World War II. He spent a majority of his life working with various construction companies. He always enjoyed hunting and bowling during his free time; however, his favorite moments were with his family.

He is survived by his children, David (Marie)Johnson of Kenosha, Linda (Robert) Leisner, and Gladys (Gene) Sems, both of Racine; eight grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lyle (Donna) Whiting of Oconto, Janice (Lloyd) Wiedenhaft of Stiles, Arlend (Joan) Whiting of Suring, and Gloria (James) Smith of Pembine; sisters-in-law, Ethel Tessman and Dorothy Feranchek, both of Racine; Betty Schulz of Lady Lake, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and relatives. His grandson, Scott Vorlob, and brother, Clair Whiting, also preceded Mr. Whiting in death.

Family and friends called at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, October 8, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. for the funeral service with Rev. Jeffrey M. Thielen officiating. Private burial services with military honors took place in Graceland Cemetery.
