He was born March 16, 1913, in the Town of Oconto Falls, to the late Albert and Anna (Johnson) Zippel. On August 31, 1935, Carl married Evelyn H. Nass, in Green Valley. She preceded him in death November 13, 1992. In 1945, Carl founded Zippel Construction, Inc., Gillett, which he owned and operated until his retirement. He also raised beef cattle on his farm. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Carl is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Everett and Gwen, Philip and LaVern and Gaylord, all of Gillett; one daughter, Lois Zippel; seven grandchildren and their spouses; ten great-grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carl was also preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Frederick.
Friends called at the Kuehl Funeral Home, Gillett. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Monday, December 27, 1999, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Lange officiating. Interment in Wanderers Rest Cemetery, Gillett. A memorial fund has been established to benefit Alzheimer's research.
