Cora Tillman EFFENBUGER

Cora Effenberger, age 96, of Oconto Falls, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 3, 1999.

Cora was born on May 28, 1902 in Suring. She was the daughter of the late Alvin and Isabelle (Palmer) Tillman. On September 27, 1923 Cora was united in marriage to Antone Effenberger in Menominee, MI. He preceded her in death in December 1972. For many years after their marriage, Cora and her husband ran a farm near Suring. Cora was also employed at the Frostville cheese factory and the clerk/treasurer for 25 years. Cora was active in many activities in her lifetime including the Maple Valley Homemakers from 1945 until 1975 and while her sons were growing she spent many years in the local 4-H club. She also enjoyed traveling with the Farm Bureau and the Homemakers. Her main hobby and activity was her flower gardens, which were enjoyed by everyone traveling past her home. It was a showplace of flowers. She would even donate her flowers to local churches and many were used for weddings and banquets. In 1983 Cora moved to Oconto Falls where she still continued growing beautiful flowers and maintained a large garden.

Survivors include three sons, William E. Effenberger of Lompre, CA, Jim (Georgia Ann) Effenberger of Oconto Falls, Kenneth (Jeannie) Effenberger of New Ulm, MN; one daughter-in-law, Betty Effenberger of Oconto Falls; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Cora was preceded in death by three sons, Norbert Effenberger who died in 1964, Ronald and his Spouse Sally Effenberger who both died in 1981, and Robert Effenberger who died in 1983; one granddaughter, Diana Marie Effenberger who died in 1986.

Visitation was held from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls, Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Irene Skarban presided. Burial will be held this spring at Hickory Corners Cemetery.
