SURING - Cheryl L. Steffeck Jenko, age 45, Highway M died at a Green Bay hospital following an illness of five years. Cherie was born December 17, 1953 in Oconto Falls to Victor and Suzanne (Pecard) Steffeck. She married Gary J. Jenko May 31, 1975 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spruce. She was employed in the Gillett Public School System as Home Ec. Teacher and also Dean of Students. Cherie loved teaching during her 15 years of employment with the Gillett School District. She also enjoyed to sew, was an excellent cook, and like to visit with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband Gary of Suring, her son Jared at home; her mother Suzanne Steffeck of Lena; three brothers and their families, Richard (Peg) Steffeck of Mayville, Victor Jr. of Lena, Robert (Selina) of Chicago; two sisters and their families, Patricia (Gene) Sager, Joan (Mare) Denis all of Lena; mother and father-in-law, Jacob and Marion Jenko of Kelly Lake; brother-in-law Jacob (Ann) Jenko of Sheboygan; three sisters-in-law, Jean (Jim) Soukup, Judy (Steve) Western, and Joan (Kerry) Harder all of Sheboygan; other relatives and friends.

Cherie was preceded in death by her father and two brothers James and Thomas. The funeral was held Tuesday, November 16 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suring with the Rev. Paul Schumacher officiating. Burial in Hickory Cemetery. Cherie would like to be remembered with a smile, not a tear. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring, served the family.
