Mrs. John P. Cain, 94, resident of Oconto for more than three quarters of a century, died Monday morning in the Oconto hospital where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. She had been ill for more than a year.

The former Carrie Rosa was born in Montreal, Canada (St. Joseph, Berrien Co., Michigan), April 16, 1858 and came to Oconto at the age of 13. She was married to John P. Cain who preceded her in death in 1918. For the past eight years she made her home with Mrs. Theodore Carriveau, Smith Ave. She was a member of St. Ann's Society and the Equitable Reserve association.

The body was taken to the MacQueen chapel where it lay in state until Wednesday morning when it was removed to St. Peter's Catholic church where funeral services were conducted at 9 o'clock. Rev. Felix Van Drisse officiated and burial was in the Catholic cemetery.

Survivors are four sons, Harry of Waukesha, William of Portland, Ore., and Bert and Mayor Milton Cain of Oconto, and two daughters, Mrs. V. H. John of Oconto and Mrs. Frank Rousseau of Milwaukee. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
