Clara J. Firgens, 99, Suring, died November 25, 1999 at Woodland Village in Suring. Clara was born December 23, 1899 in Spruce to the late Joseph and Veronica (Rabas) Peck. She taught school at the Town Line School in Suring until marrying Walter Firgens an November 8, 1924. Clara enjoyed playing cards, dancing, baking and cooking, and tending her garden and flowers. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suring. Survivors include her two daughters and their families, Rose Marie Knigge of Lake Placid, FL, Clara (Pete) Strehlow of Suring, her two sons and their families, Eugene Firgens of Shawano, Allen (Betty) Firgens of Seal Beach, CA; 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and six great-great- grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Clara was preceded in death by her husband Walter on September 18, 1977; her son, Robert, in 1989, her daughter, Helen McLeod, in 1992; and her four brothers, Joseph II, James, Edward, and Frank. Visitation was held at Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring on Monday November 29, 1999.

A prayer vigil, conducted by Sister Karen Vollmer, was held. Mass of Christian Burial was 11 a.m. Tuesday November 30, 1999 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Father Paul Schumacher officiating. Graveside committal prayers, were Tuesday at Breed Union Cemetery.
