Joyce E. Colson Obituary

Joyce E. Colson, 79, Oconto Falls, died Thursday afternoon, June 26, 2008, at Bellin Memorial Hospital in Green Bay. She was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Oconto Falls, to Marvin and Dorothy (Herms) Ball. Joyce grew up in Oconto Falls, where she attended Oconto Falls Public Schools, graduating from high school with the Class of 1946. Following graduation from high school she went to work for the Falls Paper & Power Company. On Oct. 6, 1951, she married Hershel Colson and together they had eight children. Joyce lived in Oconto Falls, most of her life and was well known and liked from her days of bartending at the Wild West and the Hotel in the city. She will also be remembered for being a loyal Packer and Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors are her five daughters; one son; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1983; two sons, infant Terry Colson Feb. 25, 1965 and adult son, Larry Colson on May 27, 2007; and two sisters, Bernice Dietrich and Eileen Krueger.
Friends may call at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls after 4 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, until the time of services. Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Diane Fite officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
