Charles L. Bergevain, 94, of Oconto, died Friday March 16, 2001 at the Riverside Health & Rehabilitation Center, Oconto.

Charles was born March 4, 1907 in Oconto to the late Louis and Katherine (Koonen) Bergevain. He married Irma Hoehne on May 25, 1935. She preceded him in death on November 23, 1991. In his younger years he was a logger and worked at Holt Hardwood. Charles farmed in the town of Oconto for over 50 years He enjoyed working with his horses which he used for logging, putting up ice, and sleigh rides.

Charles is survived by one daughter, Sharon Bergovain, Oconto; three sons Kenneth (Sharon J.) Bergevain, Marinette; Ronald (Shirley) Bergevain, Peshtigo; Roger (Annette) Bergevain, Pound; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by an infant son; one brother, Wilbert, and six sisters Mildred, Myrtle, Stella, Hattie, Catherine, and Marcella.

The family received relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, Sunday March 18. A prayer service was held at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with the Rev. David C. Ruby officiating and burial at Oconto Catholic, Cemetery.
