Clarence Joseph Thielke, 89, Suring, died Sunday June 24, 2001 at the Woodland Village Nursing Home.

He was born on November 14, 1911 in Suring to James and Catherine (Haubrich) Thielke. On April 11, 1964, he married Emily Fischer; she preceded him in death on December 25, 1974. Clarence had been employed in various jobs throughout his life. He was a milk hauler, worked for the Kohler Company in Sheboygan, and as a 3rd Class Seaman on the Great Lakes. He owned Thielke's Bar in Suring until he retired in 1994. Clarence entered Woodland Village where he remained active. He was President of the Resident Affairs and Concerns. He enjoyed his many duties there and was often called to judge in a variety of contests.

He is survived by three brothers, Art (Anita) Thielke of Suring, Milton (Edith) Thielke of Duluth, MN, Leo (Delores) Thielke of Suring; three stepdaughters and two sons-in-law, Sharon Christenson, Suring, Joyce (Gene) School, Suring, Shirley Wians, Cecil, and Robert Frank, Oconto Falls. Clarence had 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Lawrence and George, and one stepdaughter, Mary Jane Frank and two sons-in-law.

Clarence enjoyed spending Sundays and holidays with the Christenson family, and enjoyed his great-grandchildren, Reshina and Hunter.

Visitation will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Suring on Wednesday June 27, from 9:30 a.m. until funeral services 11 a.m. at Church with Father William Stengel officiating. Burial in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring, in charge of arrangements.

Clarence's family would like to thank the staff at Woodland Village Nursing Home for the great care they gave him, and all their concerns. Clarence was an intelligent, kind, humorous, and loving man and will be missed by all.
