Clarence J. MERCURE

Clarence J. Mercure, 81, 7976 Hwy 22 West, Oconto Falls, died suddenly Wednesday evening, March 1, 2000, at a Green Bay hospital after a long battle with cancer.

He was both November 29, 1918, in Marquette, MI, to Joseph and Antoinette (Gagnon) Mercure. Clarence grew up in Michigan and as a young man served in the U.S. Army and moved to Wisconsin. In October 1955, he married Theresa Kuchta. The couple lived in Oconto Falls all of their married life where Clarence was employed by the Scott Paper Co. until his retirement. "Merc" enjoyed spending time at his cottage, fishing and being together with his family to whom he was such a special husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa; his children, Dean Uhl, Donna Waschbisch, Janette (Bud) Tisch, all of Oconto Falls; Alfred (Sandy) Mercure, Appleton; Judie (Butch) Koss, Kewaunee; Hazel Kampf, Manitowoc; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers; Clifford Mercure and Alfred (Dorothy) Mercure, all of Marquette, MI; one sister, Sister Joseph Antoinette, Alabama; a very special part of our family, Nancy and Lee, Appleton; special friends Bob and Katie Metzner, Oconto Falls.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Yvonne Groth; and an infant daughter.

Friends called at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls on Saturday, March:4, 2000. Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fr. Paul Schumacher officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oconto Falls.
