Carol J.
Carol J. Jossie, 91, Oconto Falls, died peacefully Saturday afternoon, March
26, 2016 at The Cottages at Meadowlands in the presence of her loving
family. She was born February 10, 1925 in Oconto Falls to Everett and Elna
(Christensen) Piper. Carol grew up in Kelly Brook where she attended
elementary school, later graduating from Oconto Falls High School with the
class of 1942. Following graduation, she worked for WPS for five years.
On June 7, 1947 she married Harvey Jossie at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in
Spruce. The couple owned and operated a family farm in the Hickory area for
most of their married lives. Carol also worked as a teacher's aide for the
Suring School District for 19 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Mark's
Lutheran Church in Spruce where she served as church organist for over 40
years. Carol loved life on the farm, having PJ parties with her cousins and
spending fun times together with her fellow Red Hatters.
Survivors are her three children, Laurie (Ben) Penkivich, Gillett; Don
(Abbie) Jossie, OR; Arnie (Carol) Jossie, Seymour; six grandchildren, Amy
and Brent Penkivich; Sam and Lizzie Jossie; Veronica (Chip) Woodke and
Olivia (DJ) Graves; four great grandchildren, Sierra and Dexter Graves; Lily
and Milah Woodke; one sister-in-law, Audrey Piper, Oconto Falls; many nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harvey in 1970, one
brother Earl Piper and one sister Lucille (Milton) Blahnik.
Visitation will be held 4-8pm Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Jones Funeral
Service in Oconto Falls. Visitation will continue after 9am Thursday, March
31, 2016 at the funeral home until the time of service. Funeral services
will be held 11am Thursday at the funeral home with her cousin Pastor Bill
Kamke officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Spruce.
The Jossie family would like to thank the nurses and staffs of The Cottages
at Meadowlands and Unity Hospice for the care and concern shown Carol during
their time together.
