Cletus Harold “Clete” Conard

Cletus Harold “Clete” Conard, 86, Hobart, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012. He was born in Suring, on Nov. 4, 1925, to Frank and Veronica Alvina (Neville) Conard. Clete graduated from Green Bay East High School and Badger Green Bay Business College. He was employed as office manager for the Baypak Corp. and Green Bay Fertilizer Co. Later, he worked as a sales representative in the insurance field.

Clete proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Sgt. First Class during World War II. He flew many missions over Europe in a B-24 bomber, as a tail gunner, while stationed in Italy.

On April 20, 1949, Cletus was united in marriage to Dorothy Pamperin at St. John the Baptist Catholic church in Howard. They enjoyed the last 63 years together.

He enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, and playing Bridge. Clete was an avid basketball player in his high school and college years. He beautifully restored many pieces of antique furniture for his home and the homes of his children.

Clete is survived by his wife, Dorothy; his daughters and their spouses, Susan Conard, Marquette, MI; Sharon (John) Wielgus, Ripon; Veronica (Christopher) Jordan, Prior Lake, MN; his grandchildren, Molly and Shaun Pitz, Allison (Derek) Kavanaugh, Joshua (Rachel) Wielgus, Jacob (Cora) Wielgus, Luke, Hannah and Elisabeth Jordan; and his great-grandchildren, Mairead and Ardyn Kavanaugh, and soon to arrive baby boy Wielgus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Cletus Conard; his brothers, Gordon (Ellen) Conard, Ralph (Marge) Conard, an infant brother, Kenneth; and a sister, Rita (Victor) Dombroski.

A celebration of Cletus’ life will take place in July for the immediate family. A memorial fund has been established.
