Clarence received his education at Dr. Martin Luther College, New Ulm, MN; Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN; graduated with a Bachelor of Science from River Forest, IL; and graduated with a Master of Science from UW-Oshkosh, in 1973. He taught forty-four and one half years in parochial schools starting at Oshkosh, WI, where he was called and served as principal and teacher at Trinity Lutheran School from 1950 to 1978. His duties at Trinity Lutheran Church and School, included being organist and choir director, as well as Sunday School Superintendent and service on various boards and Committees of the South Wisconsin District. Clarence finished his career by teaching half time at St. John's Lutheran School in Berlin, WI, from 1978 to 1979. Clarence was a member of the Lutheran Education Association and the Winnebago County Retired Educators Association. He enjoyed his grandchildren, Trinity bus tours, and his cottage at Portage, WI.
Clarence is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elsie Radl of Oshkosh; a son, Mark (Carol) Radl of Oshkosh; two daughters, Jerolyn (Gordon) Fitzgerald of Houma, LA, and Myrna (Bruce) Breier of La Jolla, CA; four grandchildren; two stepchildren, Will Breier, Phoenix, AZ, Karen Breier of La Jolla, CA; one great-grandchild, Harleigh Kay Dahl, born December 7, 2000 in Shreveport, LA; five sisters Dorothy Carstens, Mesa, AZ, Alice Ryan, Omaha, NE, Lorraine Mathiowitz, Hector, MN, Ruth Schaeffer, Neenah, WI, Joyce Jobe, New Ulm, MN; a brother, James Radl of Sun City Center, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna Radl; two brothers, Robert and William Radl, and a sister, Elizabeth Green.
The funeral service was held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 370 Bowen Street, Oshkosh, WI, on Saturday January 6, 2001 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Marvin Ahlborn officiating. A luncheon was held in the church basement following the service. Entombment took place at the Lake View Memorial Park Mausoleum following the luncheon. Family and friends called at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home Eastside on Friday January 5, 2001.
