Mr. Cyrenus F. 'Cy' Coshenet

Mr. Cyrenus F. 'Cy' Coshenet, 83, Oconto, died Sunday evening, January 14, 2001 at home.

Mr. Coshenet was born September 11, 1917 in Oconto Falls to Jule and Mary Koch Coshenet, and attended school there.

He served his country proudly in the Army 36th Infantry Division from when he was inducted on February 28, 1942 until being discharged honorably on October 20, 1945. He received his service training at Ft. Sheridan, IL and Camp Blanding, Florida. In April 1943 he was sent overseas to the North Africa Salerno Invasion. However in September of 1943 he was wounded in Salerno and Mount Summerco, for which he received the Purple Heart. His Battles and Campaigns included Naples, Foggia, Rome and Arno, Italy-Southern France, Rhineland Germany, and Central Europe. Some of the decorations and citations beside the Purple Heart he received were: Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Silver Battle Star, Bronze Service Arrowhead, five Overseas Service Bars, and a Service Stripe.

Early in his life Cy worked for J & I Manufacturing. He married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Young who preceded him in death in 1991. Cy was a well known area Milkman for Sorge Dairy for 30 years, and in his later working life was employed by Cruisers of Oconto until retirement. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Oconto.

Surviving are four sons, Jim and his wife Linda of Green Bay, Michael and Jeff, Oconto, and Mark, Oconto Falls; two daughters, Linda and Lori, Oconto; five grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, Stephanie, Melissa, and Andrew; two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Josephine.

Along with his wife and parents, Cy was preceded in death by five brothers, Nestor, Cletus, Vince, Eugene, and Ray; an infant sister Eunice, as well as two sisters, Cecelia Dembroski and Dorothy Rosera.

The family received relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Park Avenue at Madison Street, Oconto from 10 until 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2001. Mass of Resurrection was 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church. The Rev. Fr. David C. Ruby officiated. Interment at Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Jones-Modrow-Young American Legion Post of Oconto conducted military rites at the Church. Ackerman Funeral Directors, Oconto assisted the family.
