Little River Death
Gone Home

On Wednesday, August 13, 1884, at 1:00 p.m. the spirit of Catherine, wife of Isaac Elliott, of the town of Little River, took it's flight to the better land where sickness, tears and death are unknown. The departed was born in the state of New York, 54 years ago, where she lived until 1874, when she came to this state with her family and settled in Little River, in this county, which was her home until the time of her death.

She has been ill since early last winter and was a great sufferer most of the time, which she bore with Christian resignation and fortitude. She was a most exemplary Christian, and when the dread message came bidding her depart, she was prepared, and laid down her burden and went forth trusting in "One Mighty to Save."

She was an affectionate wife, devoted mother and kind neighbor, who exemplified her religion in everyday life, and proved her faith by her works. By her death, a husband and nine children are deprived of the love and society of a wife and mother, and who in their great bereavement have the sympathy of all.

Her funeral took place at the M. E. church in this city yesterday afternoon, her pastor the Rev. W. C. Bancroft officiating, after which the remains were taken to their final resting place in the "silent city" being followed thence by a large concourse of sympathizing friends.
