Oconto Falls-The staff of the Oconto County Times-Herald suffered a severe loss, and each feels a deep personal grief over the death of Clinton Couillard of Oconto.
"Clint" learned the printer's trade in the Oconto Falls Herald print shop under the late Editor, R. P. Smith, and he followed this vocation all his life. He also worked at the Gillett shop and for a number of years at the Oconto County Reporter. He had been employed in Oconto Falls for the major part of the past twenty years under the present management.
Having learned printing under the old school, he retained the pride in his work that has been a part of such a profession thru the centuries.
Although he had been ill a few weeks ago, he had recovered and was back at his work. On Tuesday afternoon he became ill, but continued until four-thirty, when he drove home.--He entered the Oconto hospital the next day, and after tests and a cardiogram, seemed to relax under the realization that he would not be able to return to work for a few months.
"Clint" passed away in his sleep a little after seven Friday evening, and his peaceful departure has been a severe shock to his family and friends. In the shop of the Oconto County Times Herald is a vacancy, which no one will ever be able to fill for those who worked with him so many years. "Thirty" has been written on his earthly life, but there can be no such symbol in the hearts of those who knew him. Clint was born May 15, 1891 in the Town of Oconto, but he grew up in Oconto Falls where his family resided for some time. He was married to the former Lydia Roewe in 1922, who survives. Other survivors are two daughters, Ora, Mrs. Wm. Park of Minneapolis, Alice at home, a sister Beatrice, Mrs. Arno Niagatter of Milwaukee, and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held at the Gallagher Funeral Home on Monday afternoon, the Rev. Harold Riebe of the Methodist church officiating. Burial took place in Evergreen Cemetery, with Robert Shellman, Louis Zahn, Joseph Thario of the Times-Herald, Wilfred Leneau, Harry Peterson and Patrick Bake carrying the casket.
Also attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Shellman, Mrs Henry Wold, F. D. Shellman, Basil Rickaby and Tom Kuhlman.
