He was born December 20th 1875 at Bay Settlement in Brown County and came to this community sixty-seven years ago. He was married to Mary Carroll of Oconto Falls in 1903, who preceded him in death in 1941.
A barber by profession, he operated a shop in the city until he retired in 1952. Mr. Coopman was a charter member of the Oconto Falls Volunteer Fire Department, served on the Board of Health, a faithful communicant of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and a member of the Holy Name Society, Mr. Coopman was an ardent hunter and sportsman and until the last few years was most active.
Survivors are three daughters, Esther, Mrs. Roy Gustaveson of Waukesha, Muriel, Mrs. W. T. Hicks of Gillett, and Veronica, Mrs. Sanford Vincent of Omro; two sons, Chester who is a clerk of the Water and Light Dept. and Gerald, Oconto Falls City Clerk, a sister Mrs. Lena Just, Oconto Falls, eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The remains were in state at the Soulek Funeral Home in the Falls, from seven o’clock until Tuesday evening until the time of the services at ten o’clock Thursday morning. The requiem mass was conducted at St. Anthony’s church at ten by Re. Jos. Tomczyk and burial took place in St. Anthony’s cemetery. Pallbearers were Bernard Coshenet, H. J. Reidinger, Edw. Graf, Ernest Maggnin, Dr. F. C. Titel and August Francois. The parish rosary was recited at the Funeral Home at eight on Wednesday evening.
