Caroline Johnson, 80, N. Kelly Lake Rd., Suring, a former Oconto resident, passed away at her winter home in Ocala, Florida, November 16, 2000. Caroline was born November 13, 1920 at Marinette, WI to the late David and Ethel (Hutchinson) Boville. She attended school in Coleman, WI and was a member of the women's state champion basketball team. She was a graduate of St. Mary's School of Nursing and was a long time employee of Oconto Memorial Hospital and Riverside Nursing Home as a RN. Caroline married Donald Johnson December 8, 1956, he preceded her in death.
While a resident of Oconto she was active in Ladies Elks, Oconto Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the American Cancer Society. She also served as a board member of the Oconto County Commission on Aging and was a state board member of the WI Spina Bifida Association. She was also active in many charitable organizations at their winter home in Ocala, FL. She was a member of the Sweet Adeline's Association.
Survivors include three daughters Roberta "Bobbie" Skelly, Green Bay; Judith (Wayne) Conklin, Coleman; Denise (Roger) Cunningham, Chesapeake, VA; two sons John "Jack" (Jeanne) Rysewyk, Green Bay; Donald (Gall) Rysewyk, Green Bay; daughter-in-law Cindy Rysewyk, Oconto; four sisters Dorothy (Ralph) Walters, Bella Vista, AR; Evelyn Dzurick, Racine, WI; Elizabeth "Toots" (Walter) Jashinsky, West Allis, WI: Darlene (William) Perry, Oak Creek, WI; two brothers Dr. David (Joan) Boville, Sauk City, WI; Rodney (Barb) Boville, Green Bay; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren. We will all miss her very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, stepmother Betty; a brother Kenneth; sons Bernard and Joseph (infant); grandson Gregory and former husband John Rysewyk.
Friends may call at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Parish wake service will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Parish with Rev. David Ruby officiating. Burial will be at Coleman Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
