Rites Monday For Basil Yarwood At Oconto Falls

Oconto Falls - Sincere sympathy is extended to Mrs. Basil Yarwood and her children in the death of the husband and father, who passed away in Chicago Friday, after a two week illness. Death was caused by pneumonia.

The remains rested at the Westphal Funeral Home in Chicago, where many of his co-workers from the C. F. Pease company called. He will be greatly missed there as his fellow workers found him to be most cooperative, and all mourn his untimely demise.

Mr. Yarwood was born in Chicago on April 22nd, 1902 and was 55 years of age. He was the son of Alfred and Mary Ellen Yarwood, and a grandson of one of Oconto county's earliest settlers, the Rev. Hugh Yarwood, a Methodist minister who brought his family from England and accepted a pastorate at Gillett. Yarwood Matravers, life long Oconto County resident, received his given name from this family.

Mr. Yarwood was married to the former Isabel Brennan of Oconto Falls in Chicago in 1930. They lived here about twelve years, but his work in Chicago kept him there in later years. He made a trip up here at least every month to be with his family, and called frequently. The last time that he called, he told his wife that he was very ill, but was reluctant about entering a hospital. He was finally persuaded to go to Martha Washington Hospital, but all that modern medicine could do did not avail.
