She was born on May 12, 1948, in Waukesha, Wis. to Ervin and the late Ruth (Heinz) Strand. On November 19, 1966, she married Alvin Urbanek. Barbara was employed by the Oconto School District for 25 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Green Bay. Survivors include her husband, Alvin; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Lisa Urbane of Little Suamico; two grandchildren, Megan and Kassidy Urbanek; her father, Ervin Strand of Oconto Falls; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Gary Belman of Mukwonago and Susan and James Hanna of Pensaukee; a sister-in-law, Nancy Ama of Green Bay.
She was preceded in death by her mother. Visitation was held Tuesday starting at 1:00 p.m. at Lyndahl Funeral Home, Green Bay, where a service of remembrance was held at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Hartman officiating.
