Lena
1933

-Bert Reiss, 48, Lena undertaker and well known in democratic circles of the eights congressional district and a prominent citizen of Oconto County died suddenly Tuesday in the office of Atty. J.B. Chase at Oconto.

Heart attack was given as the cause of death. Riess had been listening to a joke related by Attorney Chase and was laughing when he slid off his chair. His failure to arise caused Attorney Chase to pick him up. Dr. J. F. Rose, Lena, the Riess family physician, stated Riess had not been ailing except for a dizzy spell suffered while in Green Bay recently. The body was removed to the Gagnon mortuary at Oconto and later taken to the Riess home at Lena.

Mr. Riess was born in Ludington, Michigan and is survived by his widow, Jennie, and one small son, Jack. There are also three brothers, one of Grand Rapids, Mich, and two sisters.

The funeral will be held at Lena Saturday morning from St. Charles Catholic Church at Lena, with the Rev. Fr. Vassiere officiating. Interment will be in the Clintonville Catholic cemetery.

After leaving Ludington, Mr. Riess resided in Shawano for a number of years and about 12 years ago came to Lena, where he conducted an undertaking establishment and also a motorcar agency. He was active in local affairs, was president of the Businessmen's association of Lena and was also a member of the school board.
