Bennie was born July 3, 1919 in Oconto to the late Charles and Anna (Viestenz) Wittkopf. He married Willie Taylor on November l6, 1944 in Green Wood, MS. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1945. Bennie was a fish salesman and enjoyed hunting and trapping. He was a member of the First American Lutheran Church and the American Legion Post 474.
Bennie is survived by his wife, Willie; one daughter, Gail Retzlaff and special friend, Steve Pocquette of Oconto; five sons, Bill (Janice) Wittkopf of Appleton, Thomas (Mary) Wittkopf of Oconto: John (Carol) Wittkopf of Oconto, Bennie (Jodi) Wittkopf of Green Bay, and David (Phyllis) Wittkopf of Oconto; two sisters, Janice Whiting of Oconto and Marie Termaat of Oconto; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Ahnen; two brothers Marvin Wittkopf and Wilfred "WaWa" Wittkopf; one sister, Hazel Stock, and two infant brothers.
Visitation was held at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, and again on Monday April 19, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the First American Lutheran Church, Oconto. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Richard DeBenedetto officiating. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery. Military Rites by American Legion Post #74
