Berniece Luebeck Giese

Berniece L. Giese, 84, Suring, died October 27, 2000 at Woodland Village.

She was born September 23, 1916 in the Town of How to the late John and Caroline (Swenty) Luebeck. Berniece married Walter H. Giese on May 29, 1934. Her family was always of great importance to her; the family spent lots of time together at their cottage on Shay Lake. Binge and picking berries were among favorite pastimes. Berniece had been employed in the Suring Public School system as a cook for 26 years. She was a member of the Suring United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her four daughters and their families: Louise Luedeman of Portage, Audrey (Ronald) Whiffen of Green Bay, Roberta (Randy) Letkiewicz of Germantown, Susan (Eugene) Eisner of Oneida; her son and his family, Steve (Ruth) Giese of Suring; two brothers, Elmer (Willa) Luebeck of California, Ellsworth (Isabel) Luebeck of Suring; two sisters, Marge (Matt) Mitchell of Suring, JoAnn (Gary) Sarles of Arizona; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Berniece was preceded in death by her husband Walter on August 6, 1993; four sisters, Dewina, Lucille, Lurella and Leona; a son-in-law, Donald Luedeman in 1997, and granddaughter, Laura Luedeman, in 1984.

Visitation was held Monday, October 30 at the Suring United Methodist Church beginning at 10 a.m. Funeral services were 11 a.m. with Pastor Mara Pheno officiating. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home, Suring in charge of arrangements.
