Ben J. Rohan, a native of Oconto and former superintendent of schools in Appleton, died Friday after officiating at a funeral service in Chetek.
Although he was not ordained, Rohan served as a lay preacher for Methodist churches in Chetek, Cameron and Canton. He suffered the heart attack while riding in a funeral car from the mortuary to the cemetery.
A graduate of Oconto High School in 1910, he also graduated from Lawrence College and held positions of principal in Apleton, Clintonville Association of Commerce. He was the author of books of guidance and conservation. His survivors include his wife, a son and a daughter.
He also taught school at Mountain,
Wabeno and Gillett.
