Mrs. Earl F. Kamke, 79, Oconto Falls, died Friday evening, April 6, 2001 following a long illness. She was born March 6, 1922 in Carter, Wisconsin to Abraham and Florence Ham Ingram. Betty graduated from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1940 and at the age of 63, she became the only one in her family to receive a college degree, a degree from UW-Green Bay.

On September 1, 1941 she married Earl Kamke in Townsend. The couple has lived in Oconto Falls for most of their married life where Betty once worked at Raymond's Drug Store and the former Gillett State Bank for many years. She also worked as a teacher's aide in Abrams Elementary School. She was a member of the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church where she once sang in the choir. She also belonged to the Oconto County Homemakers for over 50 years. Betty enjoyed travel, reading, quilting, and being involved with anything her daughters were doing.

Survivors are her husband Earl, Oconto Falls; their three daughters, Diane Lyle Nichols, Oconto; Nathalie Gehrke, Seattle WA; Juel Kamke, Tallahassee, FL; three grandchildren Lara Brian Laine, Brett Nichols and Adam Gehrke; two great-grandchildren Halie Topel and Brandon Laine; one brother, Jack Ingram, Salem, WI.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 brothers and sisters and one son-in-law, Ed Gehrke. Friends called at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls. Funeral service was conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Cho officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Town of Pensaukee.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Oconto Falls United Methodist Church or Home Respite Care, Inc., 855 S. Main St., Oconto Falls, WI 54154.
