ALICE BIEDA OBITUARY

Alice Bieda 87, Oconto Falls, and formerly of Sampson, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, January 25, 2012, at Meadowlands Assisted Living, with her family at her side. The daughter of Thomas and Marie (Lynch) Drella was born February 20, 1924, in Flintville.

On November 30, 1940, she married Edward Bieda at SS. Edward and Isidore Church in Flintville. The couple lived most of their life in Sampson, where Alice and Ed owned and operated the Hilltop Bar. She also helped Ed run the family livestock business.

The biggest love of her life was her family - Ed, their children, and all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was always so much fun; the kids couldn't wait to go to grandma's house. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and spending time at the casino. Alice was very probably the area's first serious recycler. She found creative ways to re-use everything.

Alice is survived by one son, Mike Bieda, Sampson; three daughters and three sons-in-law; Patricia (Bernard) Matczak, Oconto Falls; Kathy (Gary) Freeman, Oconto Falls; Sandy Lex, Long Beach, CA, Gary Hanson, Green Bay; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Tom (Viola) Drella, Pulaski; and one sister, Agnes Reimer, Green Bay. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, Ed's family, Lottie Gawrylewski, Helen (Al) Lawniczak, Rose (Jim) Ryczkowski, and Jim Bieda; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, on August 13, 2007; one daughter, Mary Hanson; one son-in-law, Harry Lex; one infant great-granddaughter, Angel Matczak; two brothers, twins Leonard and Lawrence Drella; two sisters and four brothers-in-law, Harriet (Ray) Vandenplas, Rose (Don DeBauche) (Dick Teisling) and Raymond Reimer; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from Ed's family, Della (Wally) Kollath, Roman Gawrylewski, Jack (Stella) Bieda, Ray (Margaret) Bieda, and Leo Bieda.

Friends may call at Assumption B.V.M. Church, 124 E. Pulaski St., Pulaski, from 9:30-11a.m. Saturday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 Saturday at the church, her nephew, Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski, O.F.M. presiding and Fr. James Esser, O.F.M. concelebrating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery

The family would like to thank Alice's girls at Meadowlands for taking such great care of her.
