Bernice Louise Nicholas, 95, Abrams, died February 26, 2000 at the Oconto Falls Hospital.

Bernice was born June 3, 1904 at Stiles to the late Hubert and Abbie (Bellow) Exferd. She married Wesley Nicholas November 28, 1923; he preceded her in death September 18, 1964. Bernice was a cook at the Abrams grade school for many years. She also was a L.P.N. at Bellin Hospital, Green Bay and Community Memorial Hospital in Oconto Falls for 15 years. Bernice was a member of Abrams United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women; she was Past Noble Grand of the Rebekah Lodge; past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, and a charter member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 523.

Survivors include one son, Leland (Lois) Nicholas, Oconto Falls; four daughters, Donna Hass, Chatsworth, CA; Dawn Huebscher, Abrams; Laverne (Elmer) Giese, Green Bay; Sylvia (Lowell) Kamke, Oconto Falls; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three great greatgrandchildren.

Bernice was preceded in death by her Husband, parents, two sons-in-law Orval Hass and Harold Huebscher; a brother, Russell Exferd; five sisters, Florence Belisle, Gladys Gauthier, Verene Ahlswede, Doris MeDerinid and Pearl Exferd.

Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday. Funeral services were 7 p.m. Monday, February 28, 2000, at the funeral home with Rev. Frederik Schulz officiating. Burial at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Abrams United Methodist Church or a memorial of your choice.
