Eudora (Hazen) Beekman


Eudora (Hazen) Beekman 89, formerly Oconto was called home to the Lord Our Father peacefully Tuesday January 1, 2013 at Rennes Health Center-East, Peshtigo, where she has resided since 2003. She was born March 25, 1923 in Oconto to the late John and Eleanor (Van Able) Hazen. Eudora married John Beekman at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Oconto on August 30, 1941. He preceded her in death after 57 years of marriage on October 8, 1999. They resided in Oconto raising 6 children and watching their grandchildren grow. She worked at the Oconto Hospital kitchen and in the Baby Ward. That gave Eudora the idea that John and her should become foster parents, and so they did caring for many babies awaiting new homes. She enjoyed caring for many children and was a good babysitter. She also worked in the kitchen at the Oconto Golf Club, catered food for some weddings, cleaned and made suppers for Father Rose, and worked at Newberry’s Nursing Home on Main St. in Oconto. Eudora was mostly a home body that enjoyed going to ceramic classes at her daughter Mary’s Church and spending time with her family, and a love for singing, as she used to sing on the radio. Eudora Beekman will be greatly missed by her family including 4 children Gerard Beekman, Oconto; Greg Beekman, Oconto; Jeff (Julie) Beekman, Green Bay; Ann Beekman and special friend Carol Blachowiak, Oconto; a son-in-law Tom Trepanier, Oconto; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-children; a brother Joseph “Hank” Hazen, Oconto; a sister-in-law Patricia Hazen, Milwaukee; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter Mary (Beekman) Trepanier a son Eugene Beekman; 2 daughters-in-law Carol Beekman and Diane Beekman; 2 sisters June Hazen and Virginia Hazen; 3 brothers Lloyd Hazen, Bud Hazen and Richard Hazen. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10-11 AM Saturday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM Saturday January 5, 2013 at the Church with Father Bob Karuhn officiating. Inurnment will be at Oconto Catholic Cemetery, Oconto.
