She was born January 11, 1922, in Oconto Falls to Chester and Ethyl (Piper) Dupuy and born again August 16, 1970. On August 26, 1938, she married Elton Cleveland in Dubuque, Iowa. Betty lived most of her life in Suamico and Oconto Falls. While living in Suamico she was a member of and church secretary for the Suamico United Methodist Church. Betty also played piano, sang in the church choir and along with her husband they were youth directors. She was currently a member of Riverview Alliance Church in Oconto Falls where she played the piano and was part of the sing-a-long at Gillett. Betty enjoyed painting for which she received awards and was an avid doll collector.
Survivors are her husband, Elton Cleveland; their children, James Cleveland, Florida; Monica (Rev. James) Hoffman, Oshkosh; Mary Jo (Dennis) Wennesheimer, Howard; Richard (Judy) Cleveland, Suamico; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Sawyer, Spokane, WA; Elaine Effenberger, Sulton, WA; very special friends Jan Soresen, Gillett, Irene Wellnitz, Ann Knak and Ruth Fabry all of Oconto Falls; one stepsister, Janet McDermid, Kingman, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, George Cleveland and one sister, Virginia Valley.
Visitation was from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, at the Riverview Alliance Church in Oconto Falls. Visitation continued at the church on Wednesday after 10 a.m. until time of service.
Funeral service was conducted Wednesday at the church with the Rev. Kevin Kuhn officiating. Entombment at Shrine of The Good Shepherd Mausoleum, Green Bay. Jones Funeral Service, Oconto Falls served the Cleveland family.
The Cleveland family would like to thank Dr. Scott Liebl, Dr. Ara Kayayan, Dr. James McGovern, Bellin Home Health, Unity Hospice, Earl and Audrey Piper, Audrey Stoll, Sue Beyer and countless others for the care and concern shown Betty.
