Mrs. Berwyn B. Walske, 72, Lena died Saturday afternoon, April 3, 1999 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay, following complications from diabetes. The former Berwyn Birr was born October 23, 1926 in the Town of Morgan, the daughter of the late Ed and Hazel (Wilbur) Birr. She married Wilbert "Joe" Walske November 29, 1947 in Brown County. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1994.

Berwyn was an area school teacher, served as clerk for the Town of Stiles for many years, and was the treasurer for Oconto County for 14 years, until retirement. She was a member of the Lena United Methodist Church where she served the church in many ways.

Surviving are three sons, Jerome, Charles, David (Jacqueline) all of Lena; five daughters, JoAnne (Curt) Gipp, Townsend, Ellen (Dennis) Gelhar, Boise, ID; Susan (Bill) Jarvey, Las Vegas; Barbara (Ron) Petaka, Fond du Lac; Lynn (Paul) Seifert, Las Vegas; two brothers, Lee (Vera) Birr, Morgan and Wayne Birr, Green Bay; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Berwyn was further preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffrey Brian, two brothers Marlyn and Glenn, and a sister Margaret "Sis". Friends called at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, Lena on Monday, April 5, 1999 and from 1 until 2 p.m. Tuesday April 6, 1999 at Oconto Falls United Methodist Church. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church. The Rev. Jodi Arpke-Lone officiated. Interment at Town of Morgan Cemetery.
