Marjorie (Blahnik) Bake, 86, Oconto, passed away peacefully at home
surrounded by her family on March 17, 2012. Marjorie was born on April 3,
1925, in Lena, to Clarence and Marie (Valley) Blahnik. She graduated from
Lena High School in 1943. During the war she worked at a defense plant
machine shop. She also worked as a clerk at Northern Paper Company, and was
the bookkeeper for the family business Bake Brothers Buick, Olds and GMC
dealership.
One memorable and exciting moment for her was a hole-in-one at the Oconto
Golf Course on Aug. 23, 1996, where she golfed regularly with her friends in
the ladies golf league. In addition to golfing, she enjoyed playing bridge,
reading, gardening, solving all the puzzlers in the daily newspaper, and
following the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, and Oconto Blue Devils.
Marjorie is survived by her six children, Mike (Patsy) Bake, Oconto; Jackie
Bake, Oconto Falls; Christy (LeRoy) Rausch, Park Rapids, Minn.; Carol (Mark)
Matenaer, West Bend; Jon (Jennifer) Bake, De Pere; Teresa (Doug) Riemer, De
Pere; 11 grandchildren, Billy and Jon Bake, Lauren (Mark) Resch, Jocelyn and
Stephanie Gerndt, Nathan and Megan Rausch, Kyle and Ryan Matenaer, Shelby
and Erin Bake; her brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Clarence "Gus" and Marie
Blahnik; sisters-in-law, Patricia Bake and Judy Hanes; and brothers-in-law,
Hollis Hanes and Gerald Weigelt. Marjorie was preceded in death by her
husband of 62 years, Bill Bake; her parents, Clarence and Marie Blahnik; her
sister, Marion and brother-in-law, George Glime; her sister, Esther (Sister
Angele Marie, SSND); brothers-in-law, Patrick, Douglas, Thomas and Robert
Bake; sisters-in-law, Margaret Bake; and nephews, Bob Blahnik, Joe Glime and
Roger Glime; great-niece, Stacey Vorpahl.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity Catholic
Church, Oconto, from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, March 23, 2012. A Memorial Mass
will be celebrated noon Friday at the church with the Rev. Joel Sember
officiating. Burial of Bill and Marjorie Bake will be at the Oconto Catholic
Cemetery. The Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, is assisting the family.
