Anton "Tony" KILLINGER

Anton "Tony" Killinger, 96, of 801 Meadowbrook Dr., Green Bay (formerly of Oconto) died February 16, 2000 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay. Tony was born April 14, 1903 at Glidden, WI to the late Anton and Amelia (Eder) Killinger. He married Mary Belongia November 7, 1931; she preceded him in death on March 2, 1992. In his early years Tony worked at Holt Hardwood Co. For 33 years he was owner/operator of Tony's Tavern at the junction of Highways 22 and 41 in Oconto. Tony was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Oconto; the Knights of Columbus; and the Tavern League.

Survivors include his daughter, Carol (Bruce) Steiner, Green Bay; a brother, Henry Killinger, Eau Claire; four sisters, Louise Illgen, Eau Claire; Jean (Herb) Wagner, Wausau; Amy Messier, N. Highlands, CA; Gertrude Myott, Prairie Du Chien; two grandchildren, Benjamin and Michael Steiner, Green Bay; four sisters-in-law, Agnes Nerenhausen, Josephine Herald, Ida Fusselman and Mabel McTavish all of Oconto.

Tony was preceded in death by six sisters, Margaret (age 6), Katherine See, Tracy Richards, Margaret Mayo (age 92), Nora Aubry, Marie Kicherer; also three brothers Frank, Joseph and Nick.

Friends called at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto. Knights of Columbus Rosary and a parish wake service was held. Mass of Christian Burial was conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2000 at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Peter Site with Rev. David C. Ruby officiating. Burial at Oconto Catholic Cemetery.
