Mrs. Anita Sanders Reed, 51, 118 N. Main St., Oconto Falls, died Monday afternoon at Community Memorial
Hospital, Oconto Falls, following an illness of 3 months. She was born May 3, 1918 in Kenosha. She was the
daughter of Viroca and the late Rollyn Sanders; was a graduate of Oconto Falls High School and attended
Whitewater State Teacher’s College. She taught High School in Oconto Falls, Bear Creek, and in Nelson. She
was a member of the Teachers’ faculty at Rockford College, Rockford IL. She also worked as a teletype setter
for newspapers in Rockford, Ill., and in Appleton. From 1961 to 1968 she operated the Sanders Ins. Agency in
Oconto Falls. She married Jay Reed May 1, 1948 in Rockford, Ill. Mr. Reed is a war correspondent and
outdoor writer for the Milwaukee Journal. She was a member of the St. Anthony Altar Society and a past
member of Oconto Falls Businessmen’s Association.
Survivors are her husband; her mother, Viroca Sanders; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
At Soulek Funeral Home, Oconto Falls after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Altar Society Rosary, Wednesday 7:30 p.m.
and parish Rosary 8 p.m. Wednesday Funeral 10 a.m. Thursday, St. Anthony Catholic Church, the Rev Joseph
Tomczyk officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
