Arthur Spice

Arthur Spice, 62, stricken at work at the Oconto Falls Paper mill Wednesday night, died at his home an hour later. He had gone to work at 6 o'clock. Employed at the mill since he was 13, he had been a machine tender for a number of years. His sudden death was a distinct shock to his many friends.

Mr. Spice was born in Dayton Ohio August 17, 1884, and came to this community with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Spice. On May 8, 1913, he was married to the former Miss Freda Wolfe. She survives him with a daughter, Mrs. Albert (Mildred) Gauthier, Oconto Falls; three grandchildren; three brothers, Roy of Oconto Falls, Wm. Of Pelican Lake, Wis. And Joseph of Joliet, Ill., and a sister Mrs. H. Evrard, Oconto Falls. Two sons preceded him in death, Henry, seven years ago at the age of 25 and Clarence, who was killed in action in Sicily three years ago.

The body was taken to the Flatley funeral home. Rites were held Monday afternoon at the funeral home and also at the Methodist church. The Rev. R.L. Greene officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery.
