Pioneer Lady Is Dead
Mrs. Anna Thomas Passed Away This Morning

Mrs. Anna Thomas, a highly respected pioneer resident of this city, passed away at her home in the East ward at 1:30 this morning after an illness of about a year, the last month of which she was confined to her bed with neuritis followed by two strokes of paralysis. She was conscious until yesterday morning and suffered greatly until about a week ago when the greater portion of her pain seemed to leave her.

Deceased, whose maiden name was Miss Anna Olson was born in Christiana, Norway, August 11, 1834, and when a young lady came to this country with her parents and settled in Manitowoc where she was married to Timothy Thomas in 1858 and the following year they moved to this city and resided here until their deaths, her husband having preceded her about seven years ago. During her residence here of nearly half a century she had won the respect and esteem of a large circle of friends by her upright womanly life.

She is survived by two daughters, Miss Lela, who resides with her mother, and Mrs. F.S. Wright of this city. She also has one brother residing in Manitowoc who is, however, to aged at attend the funeral. The time for the funeral has not yet been fixed but it will held from St. Mark’s church, of which deceased was a consistent member, Rev. Hopkins officiating, with internment in Evergreen cemetery.
