Sister Angele Marie Blahnik, 79, a School Sister of Notre Dame, was received into Christ's Kingdom early Thursday morning, September 7, 2000 at Havenwood Rehabilitation Center, Milwaukee following a brief illness of cancer.
Sister Angele was born March 23,1921 in Lena to the late Clarence and Marie Blahnik. She attended Lena High School and Miss Brown's Business School, Milwaukee. Early in her life she worked for Northern Paper Mill, Green Bay. She enlisted in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in New Orleans, where she served as an Airline Hostess. After being discharged from the War in 1947, Sister Angele became a candidate for the Schools Sisters of Notre Dame, and professed her solemn vows in 1950. Sister Angele served much of her vocation as teacher. She taught at St. Michael's, Milwaukee; Holy Cross, Mt. Calvary; St. Mary's, Grand Rapids, Michigan; St. Mary's, Menasha; St. John's Prairie du Chien; and St. Joseph now Holy Trinity Perish, Oconto.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. George (Marion) Glime, Lena and Mrs. William (Marge) Bake, Oconto; a brother, Dr. Clarence (Marie) Blahnik, Green Bay; many nieces and nephews, as well as special friend and helper, Erinn Stewart.
A visitation was held from 9 until 10:15 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2000 at Holy Family Chapel of Notre Dame Convent, 13105 Watertown Plank Road, Elm Grove. Mass of Resurrection was 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Chapel. The Rev. Fr. David C. Ruby, Pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Oconto officiated. Interment in the Convent Cemetery. The Jones-Modrow-Young American Legion Post, Oconto conducted military rites.
Sister Angele, may your soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
