Amos Matheys, 36 Cook-Avenue., died in Wisconsin General Hospital Thursday at 9:10 A.M. following an illness of nine months.
He was born December 7, 1914 in Wausaukee and was a resident of Oconto for the past 15 years. He was employed at the Holt Hardware company and was a member of the Men's Club of the First American Lutheran church.
The body was removed to Gallagher Funeral home where it lay in state until noon Sunday at which time it was taken to the First American Lutheran Church where Rev. R. Huget conducted final rites at 2 o'clock. Internment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
Survivors beside his wife, Ann are two daughters Judith and Jeanine; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Matheys, Sr., Stiles; three brothers Joseph of Two Rivers, Eugene of Denmark and John Jr. of Stiles and seven sisters, Mrs. Orville Van Boven of Stiles, Mrs. Irene Petersohn of Sheboygan, Mrs. James Nejedlo of Pilsen, Mrs. Richard Nejedlo of Denmark, Mrs. William Schnese of Oconto Falls, Miss Eunice Matheys of Two Rivers and Miss Audrey Matheys of Stiles.
