Leland Alsteen
Leland Alsteen 91, Lena passed away Friday March 9, 2012 at Hope Hospice
House, Cape Coral, FL. He was born on January 3, 1921 in Lena to the late
Phillip and Anna (Van Ness) Alsteen. On November 19, 1940 Leland married
Viola Rimple at St. John Catholic Church, Coleman. They celebrated thier
59th anniversary in 1999. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2000. He was
in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the Lena American Legion
Post #342 for 65 years serving as Chaplain for many years. He was a salesman
for Watkins Company, Farmer’s Insurance and worked for the Carpenter’s Local
1146. He was a Scout Leader, enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, family and
Levi Garrett. Leland will be remembered fondly for his unwavering support,
loving thoughtful generous ways and his very unique sense of humor. He
exemplified a positive attitude and tremendous strength. Leland was a proud
dad and devoted father, grandfather, husband and friend. Survivors include
four daughters and three sons Elaine Dorvinen, Green Bay; Yvonne (Donald)
Brault, Peshtigo; Sandra (Alvin) Strom, Oconto; Linda (David) Jacobini,
Hamilton, VA; Milton (Kathy Murphy) Alsteen, Pound; Dean Alsteen, Little
Suamico; Cletus Alsteen, Green Lake. Sixteen Grandchildren Mark (Luann),
Steven (Mary), and Michael (Kari) Dorvinen; Jeffrey Brault, Brenda (Walter)
Schillinger, and Randy Brault; Kevin, Todd and Jonathon Strom (Cheryl
Wozniak), and Tanya (Brian) Sheedy; Phillip Alsteen; Hunter and Justin
Alsteen; Angela (Jeff) Henecke, Gian (Natalie) Jacobini and Francesca
(Kendall) Warnock. Eighteen great-grandchildren Sam, Emma, Isabelle, Olivia,
Alex, Aaron, Adam, Ty, Kyle, Kristofer, Morgan, Mason, Conrad, Mikayla,
Lilly, Skyln, Griffin and Kaylee. One great-great-grandaughter Kylee; many
nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a
grandson Anthony Alsteen; granddaughter Lisa Strom-Meyer;
great-granddaughter Ashley Schillinger; son-in-law Lawrence Dorvinen; five
brothers Raymond, Wilfred, Edmund, Ernest, and Leo Alsteen; two sisters
Virginia Edlebeck, and Marie Johnson. Friends may call at St. Anne Catholic
Church, Lena from 9 AM-12 Noon Saturday. Mass of Christian Burial will be at
12 Noon Saturday March 17, 2012 at the Church with Father Celestine Byekwaso
officiating. Interment will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Lena. Military Rites
will be performed by the Lena American Legion Post #342. Rhodes-Charapata

memorial fund is being established in Leland’s name. The family would like
to thank their sister Sandra and her family for the fourteen years Leland
received dedicated loving care at their home.
