Alice M. Lorang Koehne

Alice M. Koehne died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, after a courageous battle with diabetic neuropathy.

Alice was born to the late Stanley J. and Antonette B. (Merline) Lorang on March 11, 1919. She attended Oshkosh Normal, graduating in 1940 with a Teacher's Certificate. She then taught grades one through eight at the Cottonwood Grove School in Little Suamico for two years.

On April 16, 1942 she married Daniel Koehne at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Oconto. Dan preceded her in death in 1993. Alice and Dan moved to Menasha, where Dan worked in a foundry, until he was inducted in the Army. Alice then moved to Flint, MI, where she worked as a secretary for the AFL-CIO. Upon Dan's return, they moved back to Little Suamico, where they farmed until 1982.

Alice was a homemaker. She was active in the Altar Society of St. Pius Church in Little Suamico. She was a prolific writer. She wrote many articles for the Oconto County Reporter, including "The History of Little Suamico." Alice wrote under the byline Alice Lorang. She loved to take pictures and will be remembered as the timily photographer.

Alice is survived by three sons, Daniel (Suzanne), Wausau, James Doreen), Menahsa, and Paul Joanne), Little Suamico; twin aughters, Jean (Aubin "Al") Barrett, Largo, FL and Judi (John) Boyce, Green Bay; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Geraldine Sauve, one brother, Anthony (Arlene) Lorang, both of Flint, MI; three sisters-in-law, Beatrice Ferdon, Marinette, Jeanette Koehne, Kenosha, and Elizabeth Koehne, Washington State, and many nieces and nephews, both blood relatives and officially adopted.

Friends may call at Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home, 121 Chicago St., Oconto from 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2000.; parish wake service 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the burial cortege leaves for church. Mass of Christian Burial 11 be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday St. Pius Catholic Church, Little Suamico, with the Rev. Gary J. Dantinne officiating. Burial to follow immediately at Riverside Cemetery in Little Suamico. Alice loved lilacs and butterflies. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Pius Altar Society or to St. John's Lutheran Church, Morgan.
