Aura M. Gauthier, age 88, of 134 Alder Street, Tigerton, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, at Wausau Hospital. The former Aura Mary LeFebre was born March 15, 1912, in Lena, to the late Louis and Mary (Kaufman) LeFebre.

After graduating from Oconto Falls High School, she completed one year of teachers training. Aura was united in marriage on July 1, 1936, to George Gauthier at St. Charles Catholic Church in Lena. The couple moved to Tigerton in 1942. She taught grades K-8 for six years. The couple moved to Lehigh Acres, Fla., in 1980. Her husband, George, preceded her in death in 1989. She came back to Tigerton in 1995. Aura was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Tigerton and the Christian Mother's Society. She was involved with the Tigerton Historical Society. Aura was a past brownie and scout leader. She enjoyed traveling and was an avid Packer fan. Survivors include: five children, Gary (friend, Sharon) Gauthier of Wittenberg, Tom (friend, Joan) Gauthier of Clintonville, Marcia (Richard) Weller of Wittenberg, James (Brenda) Gauthier of Tigerton, Mary (Tom) Furlong of Vernon Hills, Ill.; 11 grandchildren, Kathy (Jeff) Gwidt of New London, Kristi (Tom) Blumreich of New London, Sheryl Gauthier of Appleton, John (Aaryn) Gauthier of Weyauwega, Michael (Stephanie) Gauthier of Clintonville, Nancy (Travis) Watters of Richland, N.C., Shannon (friend, Mary) Weller of Wittenberg, Joe (Stephanie) Gauthier of Tigerton, Julie (fiance, Matt) Gauthier of Tigerton, Joe and William Furlong, both of Vernon Hills, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren, Mindy, Gregg, Casey, Alissa, Erik, Garret, Trenton, Arabella, Sarah; one brother, Robert (Elaine) LeFebre and one sister, Dorothy Becker, both of Lena; a special nephew, Lon (Margaret) LeFebre of Lena; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, two sisters, Muriel and Helen and two brothers, Luke and Lee. Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Tigerton with Father Michael Carroll officiating.

Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Beil-Didier Funeral Home in Tigerton is assisting the family.
